Writer/director Denis Rovira was born in Spain (1976) and studied Audiovisual Communication at U.A.B. and film directing at U.C.L.A.

“LAZARUS TAXON” (sci-fi/horror, 2008) is getting a very strong response and good reviews, in just six months has been invited to 30 film festivals (and counting), since its World Premiere at the Sitges Film Festival 2008. Best Horror Short at Atlanta Underground Film Festival (USA), Best Nacional Short-film Award at the VI Móstoles Internacional Short-film Festival (Spain) and Best screenplay Award at Scifiworld Internacional Short-film Festival (Spain).
“LAZARUS TAXON” has been nominated for the fifth time to the Silver Meliès Award to the Best European Fantastic Short-film of the year (Sitges, Trieste, Amsterdam, Espoo and recently Leeds International Film Festival). Other festivals the film has been invited to incluye: Screamfest L.A., London International Festival of Sci-Fi and Fantastic Film, Athens Sci-fi International Film Festival, Short Shorts México, Maelstrom Fantastic Film Festival, etc.
“ANGEL” (Psichological thriller/terror, 2003) was twice nominated to the Silver Meliès Award (Sitges and Lund). Was also official selected between more than 20 international film festivals (among them: Brussels, Amsterdam, Malmö and the Chicago Latin Film Festival). Along the way the film was granted 4 awards and enjoyed a solid following. The short was thereafter sold and aired on international television channels like: HBO, Channel Four, TPS Cinema, Ruè 13eme-Universal or FoxTV.
He´s directed over 200 commercials internationally (Vodafone, F.C. Barcelona, OTE, Spanish Government, Secret Deodorant, Generalitat of Catalonia, Valencia´s Turism, Tetrapack, Media Markt,etc.)
“WORMS” (Psychological Thriller/Horror) is Denis’ most recent feature length script and was a finalist at the Sundance Screenwriter´s Lab 2009
Denis is one of the youngest members of the Catalan Film Academy and is represented in film by Paradigm Agency in Los Angeles (USA) and Álamo Films (Spain) for tv commercials. Denis has been recenlty nominated in the category “Best Directing” for Lazarus Taxon for the Gran Off European Film Awards 2009.
